Before you know it spring will be here and all the bulb flowers will be in full bloom. It's been a long long winter for some but in a few more weeks those of us that love the springtime get ready to enjoy more outdoor activity. Tulips are in season in our store. What's going on in the flower industry?
Florist everywhere are experiencing flower and supply shortages. This is due to an onset of great demand in the flower industry.
In 2020 some farmers had to lay off and/or even shut down causing lost inventory and now there is a lack of farms still in operation as well as workers.
Since the world open back up everyone that postpone their wedding/events in 2020 booked them for this year and next year. With the demand so high, the farmers are unable to keep up with the demand. Many plants and flowers were not properly harvested for the upcoming seasons.
We are currently experiencing 3 times the demand for flowers but half the stock.
1) Color choices are hard to come by
2) The type of flower you may want may not be available
3) Proper flower substitutions may be needed
4) Stock may also be low at times
Meanwhile, prices are increasing as well in the floral industry because of supply and demand. You will notice an increase on some products.
We are asking that you please place your orders well in advance to give us enough time to get the type of flowers requested if at all possible.
We appreciate your patients as we move into uncharted territory and finding new creative ways to make every arrangement just right for your occasions.
